Direct Integration with Laser System PLCs
The dual channel laser safety interlock control system ICS-7-OEM integrates with PLC Controllers to form a complete laser control system.
The ICS-7-OEM Controller requires the same functionality as the conventional ICS-9 Controller, but the wiring is done on the front of the panel.
The ICS-7-OEM, which is integrated with control systems including the laser and the robot, allows the laser to be armed only after all of the safety interlocks have been proven to be in their safe mode of operation.
The ICS-7-OEM controls an interlock system designed to protect personnel from accidental laser exposure. It can monitor multiple doors, windows, curtains, and so on that have safety interlock switches and disable the laser if any of them are open. The adaptable ICS-7- OEM system can be linked to an unlimited number of door switches and can display the status of up to six switches or groups of switches.
The ICS-7-OEM has a fully dual channel cross-checked architecture and can realize a system compliant with EN ISO 13849-1 up to performance level ‘e’ when properly wired.
Seven safety Interlock® outputs are provided, each rated at 4A resistive, 50VDC, to enable the laser, operate door locks, send signals to a PLC, and so on.
MOUNTING
Inside a control cabinet, the ICS-7-OEM is attached to a 35mm (1.38 inch) ‘top-hat’ style DIN rail.
It should be mounted in a convenient location for wiring while remaining inaccessible to operators. It has indicator lights on its top surface that are normally only visible to installation and maintenance personnel.
During installation, wired connections must be made from the ICS-7-OEM to all interlocked doors, warning signs, laser interlocks, shutters, PLCs, and other system-required equipment.
COMPLIANCE
The ICS-7-OEM conforms to the following directives ad European standards:
- Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC June 2010
- Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU
- EMC Directive 2014/30/EU
- EN ISO 13849-1:2015 Safety of Machinery: Safety-related Parts of Control Systems
